OLVEA Foundation supports menstrual hygiene and girls’ education in Kenya
OLVEA Foundation, supported by its Kenya-based employees, is committed to improving menstrual hygiene and promoting girls’ education in partnership with Mount Kenya Trust.
A hands-on project transforming girls’ daily lives
With support from OLVEA Foundation, the Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) project by Mount Kenya Trust is making a real difference for girls around Mount Kenya:
-
500 girls received packs including reusable sanitary pads, soap, and an educational guide on puberty.
-
20 local women were trained to produce these pads, giving them a stable and rewarding income.
-
Educational sessions are held for girls, as well as for boys and teachers, to break menstruation taboos and raise awareness about menstrual health issues.
Long-term impact on education
The reusable pads last up to 2 years, helping to reduce school absenteeism and enabling girls to attend classes regularly during their periods.
🎯 Project goal: support 1,000 girls per year over 2 years, ensuring they can continue their schooling and follow their educational journey under better conditions.
OLVEA Foundation takes concrete action to improve girls’ access to education and provide conditions that support their daily lives.
